West Cork has been given the top spot at the 2017 Foodie Destination awards, with the Boyne valley coming second and Kilkenny in third place. The awards, which are organised by the Restaurants Association if Ireland, see areas all over Ireland compete for the coveted title. The ceremony took place in the Headfort Arms Hotel in Kells, Co Meath, in the home of last year’s winners, Boyne Valley.

West Cork’s vibrant food scene no doubt contributed to its success in the competition, which was determined by a public vote. From the annual Taste of West Cork Food Festival and Cork Character Cafes, to the passion that West Cork food producers and retailers have about their locally made products, it’s great to see this foodie destination come out on top.

Congratulations to West Cork and well done to all of the finalists, the top five Foodie Destinations for 2017 are:

1. West Cork

2. Boyne Valley

3. KIlkenny

4. Kinsale

5. West Waterford
